Art has always carried power. But more importantly, artists do. As pioneers in Uganda's experiential art movement, PAINT & SIP UGANDA recognized that six years of nurturing creatives was not simply a milestone it was a responsibility. What began as a space for guided painting and shared expression has grown into a platform that cultivates confidence, voice, and creative independence.
This exhibition marks that evolution.
FREEDOM OF THOUGHT was conceived not as a limitation, but as a refusal to impose one. In a society that already defines timelines, expectations, and acceptable narratives, we chose not to curate within restriction. We chose instead to create space. Space for artists to think. To question. To remember. To believe. To experiment. To feel.
This exhibition is not bound by a single aesthetic or ideology. It is bound by permission permission for artists to present work that reflects who they are without dilution.
The artists gathered here come from different generations,
nationalities, disciplines, and spiritual foundations.
What unites them is the courage to create from an honest place
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
The artists in FREEDOM OF THOUGHT do not simply create images. They explore identity, emotion, memory, potential, and transformation. Each body of work emerges from a distinct conviction yet together they form a collective statement: expression is power.
At sixteen, Zahabia approaches acrylic painting as a language of thought. Iler surreal compositions visualize the inner landscape of a mind in motion reminding us that individual perspectives are not optional, but essential to collective growth.
Blending technology with traditional mediums, Pepita creates vibrant, layered works that explore movement, composition, and contemporary identity. ller practice challenges the boundaries of conventional art, reflecting a generation shaped by both culture and innovation.
Peter Feelz is a Ugandan artist, content creator and graphic designer, based in Kampala, who is especially known for exploring human emotions through charcoal and paint (oil and acrylics). Their work celebrates everyday beauty, love, inviting viewers to connect and find meaning with his art, inspired by Uganda’s culture and friendly people.
Isabella Mwebaza Alice A.K.A Bella Art UG is a Christian multidisciplinary artist whose work is grounded in renewal, vision, and spiritual elevation. Drawing inspiration from the eagle, she merges scripture with symbolism using art not merely as expression, but as ministry. Her practice reflects growth through discipline and faith, communicating God’s truth through visual form. As founder of PAINT AND SIP UGANDA, she extends that same belief into leadership creating platforms where artists rise together. For her, art is not just decoration. It is devotion. It is elevation. It is legacy in motion.
A multidisciplinary artist and sound engineer, Muchwezi explores suppressed potential and overlooked brilliance. Through mixed media, silhouette, and recycled materials, he interrogates systems that delay recognition asking what happens to talent before it is permitted to shine.
Working in acrylic and oil, Musie paints from memory. His vibrant portraits explore African and Eritrean cultural identity, layering nostalgia with emotional intensity. Through bold color and expressive strokes, he preserves both heritage and human depth.
